Structural steel erection – roof structures, stairs, platforms, breakthrough framing
Standards
AS 4100 and AS/NZS 5131

Challenges Met
Live retail environment, staged and restricted access

Project Overview
Hard Bakka Rigging was engaged to erect the structural steel for the Fashion Spree Expansion, a staged retail centre expansion in Sydney.

The centre stayed open while the work went ahead, so the steel went up in stages, with restricted access and crane movements coordinated around a live retail environment.

Scope of Work
Roof structures · stairs and platforms · breakthrough framing into the existing building.

Staged Around a Live Centre
The expansion was delivered in stages so the retail environment could keep operating. Access was restricted and every lift was coordinated with the site. Mobile cranes handled the larger lifts, and mini crawler cranes worked where space was tight.

Safety and Quality Documentation
The works ran under ITPs, SWMS and lift methodologies prepared for the staged programme, and the roof structures, stairs, platforms and breakthrough framing were erected in stages alongside an operating retail centre.

Retail and Commercial Steel
Hard Bakka Rigging erects structural steel for retail and commercial developments across Greater Sydney, including fuel and service centres and childcare buildings. On live sites we plan the staging and crane access first, then set the erection sequence around the people still using the building.
