Project Overview
Hard Bakka Rigging proudly contributed to one of Australia’s largest renewable energy infrastructure developments—Snowy Hydro 2.0. At the Kurri Kurri site in the Hunter Valley, our experienced and fully EBA-qualified crew erected seven structural steel frameworks, navigating confined spaces and busy site activity with precision and efficiency.

The job demanded absolute coordination, careful staging, and compliance with the strictest safety and environmental protocols. Despite the high-pressure schedule and limited space between existing facilities, our team delivered flawless structural installation in just eight weeks, without a single incident or disruption to other trades.

The results not only met—but exceeded—expectations. Other contractors and the client alike were impressed by the seamless delivery and professionalism of our crew on this critical job.

About Snowy Hydro 2.0
Snowy Hydro 2.0 is a landmark project set to revolutionise Australia’s renewable energy grid. The plan involves connecting the existing Tantangara and Talbingo reservoirs via underground tunnels and constructing a new underground hydro-electric power station. Once operational, the facility will be able to deliver up to 2,000 MW of on-demand electricity and store 350,000 MWh of energy—enough to power 3 million homes for a full week.

This infrastructure is essential for Australia’s transition away from coal-fired energy. With first power expected in 2028, Snowy 2.0 represents the future of energy resilience—and Hard Bakka Rigging is proud to have played a part.

Hard Bakka Rigging’s EBA crew completed the installation of 7 structural steel structures for Snowy Hydro 2.0 at Kurri Kurri. The project was finished in 8 weeks with zero incidents, showcasing precision and safety in tight spaces.
