Structural Steel Erection for Metro Infrastructure

Hard Bakka Rigging delivered structural steel and purlin erection works for the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport ABP Station at Badgerys Creek, NSW. The project involved approximately 168 tonnes of structural steel across 4,378 lineal metres, forming part of a major transport infrastructure development.

Our scope included the erection of station canopy structures, awnings, platform steelwork and lift shaft structures, requiring coordinated installation across multiple areas of the station. Mobile cranes, EWPs and telehandlers were used throughout the erection works.

Working within a restricted-access infrastructure environment, careful sequencing was essential. HBR carried out lift studies and staged erection planning to coordinate steel installation, crane movements and material handling around the requirements of the wider construction programme.

Quality control formed an important part of the works, with the project operating within a structured QA environment incorporating ITPs, hold points and bolt verification processes.
