LOGOS Prestons – Warehouse 4

Structural Steel Erection for Logistics Infrastructure

Hard Bakka Rigging erected the structural steel and purlins for Warehouse 4 at the LOGOS Prestons Industrial Estate, a portal-frame logistics warehouse with super awnings, a main office and a pump room on the corner of Yarrunga Street and Bernera Road, just up the road from our Prestons base. The package covered approximately 134 tonnes of CC2 structural steel and 6,041 lineal metres of purlins and girts, including variation works, completed in 2024.

The erection followed the engineer’s prescribed sequence. The braced bay went up and was stabilised first, with our 30T mobile crane and 20T Franna working together. Roof rafters were spliced on the ground for half-span lifts, each frame was held under load until it was tied in and tensioned, and the warehouse then progressed bay by bay, with purlins, bridging and fly bracing following. The awnings were erected from their own braced bay.

Quality control ran through the whole package, to AS 4100, AS/NZS 5131, AS 2550.5 and AS 3828, with erection bolt tensioning and sign-off, grid-by-grid sign-off and instrument verticality checks before final alignment and bolt-tension verification.
